It is only on the second look that one notices scars on the backs of his hands or the slight limp he has. He has light brown hair, thrown in contrast by his clear blue eyes. His personality is one of quietness. He has been trained to be seen and not heard, and that is still his attitude towards how he should act. Background: Gabriel grew up on the world Solomon, a world colonized early in the Federation's history by a group of disenfranchised Catholics. Deeply fanatic, they disavowed all technology produced after the year 2000. The only exception to this rule was in the town of New Jerusalem, where the Federation embassy was based. As a child, like most Solomonites, Gabriel was brought up in a very religious household. His father, as Deacon of the main church of Solomon, often stressed the importance of putting religion above all else, including family and friends. He encouraged Gabriel to spend time alone, reflecting on God's lessons. Needless to say, Gabriel used this time more often than not to goof off, usually in the forrests surrounding New Jerusalem. While on one of his "pilgimmages", he fell victim to a vicious attack by an unknown animal, which left him battered. Near death, he struggled back to his home, where his father found him. Using all of his influence through the church, his father arranged for the medics in the Federation embassy to heal his son. Gabriel was rushed to the Federation embassy, and stayed there for four months as he healed. While there, he befriended Sten W'Danga, the son of Embassador Clarius W'Danga, the Federation representative on Solomon. Years later, Gabriel still beared scars from the attack he had suffered, but wore them with pride. It was though that attack that he met Sten, whom had become his best friend. Therefore, when Sten decided to join Starfleet, Gabriel immediately wished to as well. Gabriel's father, though, was against it completely, invisioning his son following the path of the clothe instead. So, Deacon Luther made an ultimatum: Gabriel could join Starfleet, but if he did, he was disavowed. Gabriel, torn by the decision he had to make, retreated to the forrests he knew so well, and stayed there for a month. At the end of the time, he returned with his decision. Gabriel and Sten joined the Academy together, and graduate together. Sten was assigned as a tactical officer to the USS Apache, and, using his father's influence, he had Gabriel assigned to the Apache as a science officer. They served together on the Apache for only two months, though, before Sten was reassigned to a classified post. Two months later, the Apache defected from Starfleet under Capt. Bryant. Wishing to stay with the ship he now called home, Gabriel stayed on, becoming a deserter and rebel. He was forced to abandon the Apache when it was destroyed protecting the R.S.S. Cromwell, and so transferred to the Cromwell. As the Cromwell had recently lost it's Chief Science Officer when he joined, he found himself promoted to that position.
